PML 2023 Draft 1st Round Update

We now have hit the midway point of the PML 2023 regular season. Let’s take a look at how the rookie class is performing in their first season in the NFL.

  1. DJ Uiagalelei QB Detroit Lions

        2104 Passing Yards

        17 TD Passes 2 Rushing TD

        61% Completion Percentage 

The prized jewel of the PML draft has the Lions fan base buzzing. Detroit is off to a 6-2 start and just 1 game behind the division leader Minnesota Vikings whom they defeated earlier in the season. Look for the rookie to be playing some meaningful football in January.

2. Bryce Young QB Green Bay Packers 

       2018 Passing Yards

       13 TD Passes

       65% Completion Percentage 

The consolation prize of the PML draft is off to a solid rookie campaign. Following a slow start to the season, Young has hit his stride in the last 4 weeks tossing 12 touchdown passes as the Packers have won 3 out of 4 and are sitting at 4-3 on the season and in the mix for a post season berth. 

3. Bryan Bresee DT Kansas City Chiefs

         6 Tackles

         1 Sack

Bresee the top defensive player off the board in the PML draft has struggled to make an impact thus far on the season only recording 1 sack as the Chiefs sit at 0-7.

4. Tyreke Johnson CB Green Bay Packers 

        18 Tackles

         4 Interceptions 

         7 Pass Deflections

         2 Fumble Recovery

         2 TD

Johnson has been a stat sheet stuffer. The top cornerback out of Ohio St is making an immediate impact in the Packers secondary and the fans in Lambeau may have found their next Charles Woodson.

5. Julian Fleming WR Atlanta Falcons 

        277 Yards Receiving 

        15 Receptions 

         2 TD

Fleming was drafted to supplant the loss of Julio Jones who was traded this off season. The rookie has done a solid job so far ranking second on the team in yards as the Falcons sit at 4-4 and in the mix for a wild card berth.

6. KJ Henry LE Cleveland Browns

        11 Tackles

        1 Sack

Henry’s numbers may not jump off the page, but his impact on the Browns pass rush is evident as he is providing pressure opposite Myles Garrett. Henry’s fellow pass rushing mate Garrett is currently leading the PML in sacks with 9.

7. Jaylon Jones CB Atlanta Falcons 

        7 Tackles

        4 Interceptions 

        4 Pass Deflections 

        1 Forced Fumble

        2 TD

Jones has done a great job filling in for Aj Terrell who was traded this off season. Jones leads the club in interceptions with 4, and the fans of Atlanta are hoping they have found their next prime time Deion Sanders.

8. Michael Penix QB Los Angeles Rams

       1569 Passing Yards

       8 TD Passes

       62% Completion Percentage 

Penix rookie season has been a rollercoaster. Early season flashes of brilliance coupled with early season disasters. The Rams hope they have found their man under center but he will need to be more consistent moving forward if they hope to get out of the basement of the NFC West.

9. Myles Murphy LE Dallas Cowboys 

        7 Tackles

        2 Sacks

Murphy the rookie out of Clemson, after a slow start has recorded a sack in 2 out of his last 3 outings. 

10. Jadon Haselwood WR Pit Steelers

        103 Yards Receiving 

         6 Receptions 

Haselwood has yet to make an impact for the Steelers in his rookie season. The receivers best game thus far was a 2 reception 44 yard performance in a Week 7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

11. Eli Ricks CB New York Jets

       20 Tackles

        6 Interceptions 

        2 Pass Deflections

        1 TD

Ricks has been spectacular thus far for the  Jets. His coming out party in Week 6 was a 3 interception performance that has put the rest of the league on notice. 

12. Charles Cross LT Washington Redskins 

13. Arik Gilbert TE Jacksonville Jaguars

      37 Receiving Yards

       5 Receptions

       1 TD

The speedy tight end out of LSU has yet to make an impact thus far on the season. Gilbert found pay dirt in Week 1, but has struggled to get going since.

14. Maurice Hampton SS Houston Texans

       29 Tackles 

        4 Pass Deflections

        2 Interceptions 

        1 Fumble Recovery 

Hampton has been phenomenal on the back end of the Texans secondary. The safety  leads all rookies in tackles thus far, and has the Texans sitting at 4-3 in the tough AFC South.

15. Andrew Booth CB Denver Broncos

        17 Tackles

         1 Pass Deflection

         1 TD

Booth the cornerback out of Clemson University, bursted onto PML scene in Week 1 as he recorded his first career interception and returned it for a score in a 48-0 victory over division foe the Las Vegas Raiders.

16. Baylor Cupp TE Dallas Cowboys

        64 Receiving Yards

         7 Catches

The transition to the NFL hasn’t been an easy one for Cupp, as he has struggled to find any consistency in the passing game. Cupp best performance thus far was a 3 catch 37 yard performance in a Week 7 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

17. Will Anderson LOLB Los Angeles Rams

        16 Tackles

         2 Sacks

The rookie out of Alabama has been average at best thus far for the Rams. The top rated linebacker in the PML draft class best performance came in Week 5 when he recorded 5 Tackles and 2 Sacks in a 36-35 loss to division rival Seattle Seahawks.

18. Akeem Dent CB Seattle Seahawks 

        7 Tackles

        2 Forced Fumbles

        2 Sacks

        1 Interception 

        1 Pass Deflection 

The legion of boom has been resurrected in Seattle. The rookie Dent has played a big part of that with his play thus far as the Seahawks are off to a 4-3 start on the 2023 season.

19. Jordan Burch LE Detroit Lions

        17 Tackles

         8 Sacks

         1 Forced Fumble

         1 Fumble Recovery

Burch has been spectacular thus far, as he enters into Week 9 ranking 3rd in the PML in Sacks with 8. The Lions fans are a buzzing as they have found their franchise pass rusher.

20. Justin Flowe ROLB New Orleans Saints

        9 Tackles

        3 Fumble Recoveries

        1 Interception 

        2 Pass Deflections 

Flowe entered into the PML joining one of the youngest linebacker rooms in New Orleans. The rookie has shown that he has a nose for the ball as he recorded 2 fumble recoveries in a Week 6 loss to the Atlanta Falcons .

21. Demond Demas WR Arizona Cardinals

        Has not recorded any stats

22. Tyler Vrabel RT Philadelphia Eagles

23. Chris Steele CB Baltimore Ravens

        5 Tackles 

The youngster Steele has yet to make an impact thus far in the star studded secondary of the Ravens. Steele recorded 2 tackles in a Week 5 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

24. Quavaris Crouch MLB New England Pats

       17 Tackles 

        1 Sack

        1 Forced Fumble

        1 Fumble Recovery 

        3 Pass Deflections 

The man in the middle Crouch has been great thus far for one of the PMLs top defensive units. Crouch’s best performance on the young season was a 2 Tackle, 1 Sack, 1 Forced Fumble performance in a Week 2 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

26. Vincent Gray CB Washington Football 

       10 Tackles

        1 Forced Fumble

        1 Interception 

        2 Pass Deflections

Gray out of the University of Michigan has been a great addition to the WFT secondary thus far. WFT enters into week 9 allowing the 2nd lowest yards per game through the air and Gray has played a big role in the early season success.

27. Nakobe Dean MLB New York Giants

       5 Tackles

       1 Forced Fumble

       1 Pass Deflection 

Dean hasn’t been pressed into much playing time thus far for the 7-0 New York Football Giants. The rookie out of Georgia’s best performance has been a 2 tackle 1 forced fumble game in a Week 4 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

28. Jordan Wilmore RB San Francisco 49ers

       851 Rushing Yards

       147 Yards Receiving 

        22 Receptions

        11 Rushing TD

         1 Receiving TD

The head scratching pick on draft day has turned out to be the draft day steal. Wilmore has been spectacular thus far as he just 2 yards shy of 1000 all purpose yards on the season to go with 12 total TDs. The 49ers currently sit on top of NFC West at 5-2.

29. Mac Jones QB Cincinnati Bengals

     Has not recorded any stats

30. Demarckus Bowman RB Buffalo Bills

      495 Yards Rushing

      239 Yards Receiving 

       22 Receptions

        4 Rushing TD

        3 Receiving TD

The Heisman Trophy winner Bowman transition to the bright lights of the PML has been an easy one thus far. The running back out of Florida has recorded 7 Total TDs for the defending Super Bowl Champion Buffalo Bills.

31. Taron Vincent DT Minnesota Vikings

       1 Tackle

Vincent has been a non factor thus far on the 2023 season. Vincent sits behind and learns from one of the leagues best in Michael Pierce, for the 7-1 NFC North leading  Minnesota Vikings.
