Week 3 Studs and Duds Report

Week 3 of the PML season is now in the books after last evenings GOTW victory for the undefeated New England Patriots over the Los Angeles Chargers 59-30. We saw some teams who were looking to throw their hat in the ring as contenders stumble in Week 3 with the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals both suffering home losses at the hands of 2022 playoff teams the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans. We currently have 7 teams who continued their winning ways and stayed unbeaten in the Colts, Giants, Lions, Patriots, Texans, Vikings, WFT. We also have 6 teams who are looking for that elusive first victory in the Chiefs, Cowboys, Jaguars, Panthers, Raiders and Rams. With all that being said let’s look at the guys who performed at an exceptional level in Week 3 (call them studs) as well as guys who didn’t impress as much (let’s call them duds).

Week 3 Studs QB

  1. Lamar Jackson QB Baltimore Ravens

         20-28 285 Yards 3 TD 1 INT

         45 Yards Rushing 3 TD

The reigning AFC North champions have gotten back on track following a week 1 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The main reason for that is the cheat code Lamar Jackson. Jackson was spectacular in Week 3 accounting for 6 touchdowns in total as the Ravens walked away with a 54-14 road victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

2. Feleipe Franks QB New England Patriots

     15-19 277 Yards 5 TD 2 INT

The Patriots continued its early season success as the third year quarterback Franks threw for over 275 yards and 5 scores in 59-30 GOTW rout of the visiting Los Angeles Chargers to remain perfect on the campaign.

3. Joe Burrow QB Tennessee Titans

     19-20 241 Yards 3 TD 0 INT

The AFC conference runner up from last season got back on track following 2 consecutive losses and Burrow the new signal caller was a big part of that. Burrow was nearly perfect missing on only 1 of his pass attempts and throwing for 3 scores as the Titans got into the win column with a 45-14 road victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Week 3 Duds QB

  1. Patrick Mahomes QB Kansas City Chiefs

        14-28 218 Yards 0TD 5 INT

The early season woes for the Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback continued in week 3 as he once again failed to find the end zone. Mahomes tossed 5 interceptions bringing his season totals to 0TD-11INT in the Chiefs home loss to the Chicago Bears 52-20.

2. Jordan Love QB Cincinnati Bengals

     8-17 110 Yards 2TD 7INT

The Bengals took a step back in week 3 following an impressive 2-0 start to the season. Love and the offense couldn’t find a rhythm as he threw for 7 interceptions as the visiting Baltimore Ravens routed the Bengals at home 54-14.

3. Micale Cunningham QB Atlanta Falcons

     25-34 252 Yards 1 TD 5 INT

Cunningham and the Falcons offense sputtered in week 3 as they dropped a second straight game a 30-10 road loss at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. Cunningham threw 5 interceptions on the day as the Falcons fell to 1-2.

Week 3 Studs RB

  1. Austin Ekeler RB Los Angeles Chargers

     192 Yards Rushing 3 TD

      8 Receptions 38 Yards

The Chargers stepped up in weight class in Week 3 as they paid a visit to the Super Bowl contender New England Patriots. The Chargers offense struggled with turnovers early and were unable to recover. One bright spot for the Chargers was the play of Ekeler who racked up over 200 all purpose yards with 3 scores but was not nearly enough in the 59-30 loss at Gillette Stadium.

2. Saquon Barkley RB New York Giants

     189 Yards Rushing 3 TD

      3 Receptions 47 Yards

Barkley continued his early season dominance as he was over the 150 yard mark for the 3rd consecutive game and found pay dirt 3 times bringing his season total to 9, as the New York Giants knocked off division rival the Philadelphia Eagles 49-28 on the road.

3. CJ Verdell RB Pittsburgh Steelers

    200 Yards Rushing 2 TD

    3 Receptions 62 Yards

The Steelers offense finally got on track in Week 3 after 2 poor outings and Verdell was a big part of the reason why. The explosive running back racked up 200 yards on the ground with 2 scores and added an additional 62 yards through the air as the Steelers knocked off the Denver Broncos 40-29 at Mile High Stadium

4. Javian Hawkins RB Houston Texans

     154 Yards Rushing 2 TD

       4 Receptions 30 Yards

Hawkins has turned into a household name throughout the PML and his early season success is paying dividends in the Texans 3-0 start. Hawkins rushed for over 150 yards and added 2 scores as the Texans rolled to a 52-37 shoot-out victory over division foe the Jacksonville Jaguars.

5. Jordan Wilmore RB San Francisco 49ers

      112 Yards Rushing 3 TD

       2 Receptions 15 Yards

Wilmore the controversial 1st round pick of the San Francisco 49ers showed exactly why they traded up and selected him as he exploded for over 100 yards and 3 scores as the 49ers picked up the 28-14 road victory over their division rival the Arizona Cardinals.

Week 3 Duds RB

  1. Todd Gurley RB Atlanta Falcons

        10 Carries 39 Yards

        1 Reception 2 Yards

The veteran back Gurley has been unable to replicate his explosive week 1 performance which he ran for 190 yards and 2 scores. Gurley was bottled up in Week 3 to 39 yards on the ground as the Falcons fell to the Minnesota Vikings 30-10.

2. Nick Chubb RB Cleveland Browns

     10 Carries 37 Yards Rushing

The explosive Chubb was unable to get going on the ground for the second straight week as he was held under 40 yards rushing and the Cleveland Browns fell to the Tennessee Titans at home 45–14.
