NFC East Off Season Report

As we enter into week 4 of the PML Pre season, the excitement of a fresh slate of games is in the air. It was an eventful off season in which we saw numerous trades of super star players and draft picks. Some teams strapped against the cap were more hesitant to make moves as they keep an eye towards to future re signings, while others pushed there chips to the middle of the table and have went all in. Let’s take a look at the 3 top off season moves of each team in the NFC East.

Philadelphia Eagles 11-5 NFC East Champs

  1. Tyler Vrabel RT
  2. Kenny McIntosh RB
  3. Spencer Webb TE

The Philadelphia Eagles were able to win the tough NFC East in 2022 and return most of the roster. They were not a big player in the free agency market but did address some future needs for aging veterans in drafting Tyler Vrabel who will be an eventual starter in 2024. Kenny McIntosh will be third on the depth chart behind Raheem Mostert and Miles Sanders with an eye on the future. Spencer Webb also will be 3rd on the depth chart but may be a younger cheaper option in the future at the tight end position.

New York Giants 10-5

  1. Nakobe Dean MLB
  2. Jackson Sirmon ROLB
  3. Austin Jones RB

The New York Giants had a successful 2022 season, making the post season as a wild card team and winning a first round playoff game over NFC West champion Arizona Cardinals. They would eventually fall in the divisional round to the NFC Champion Minnesota Vikings. It was a quiet off season on the free agent front, but they did address the linebacker room with the selection of Nakobe Dean who will be in the mix for a starting role in the middle of the Giants defense. Jackson Sirmon will be a few notches down on the depth chart but will be someone who could develop into a solid role player. Austin Jones is a home run threat at running back and should see some time this season and will eventually take over as the #2 back behind Saquon Barkley in years to come.

WFT 9-7

  1. Charles Cross LT
  2. Jesse Bates SS
  3. Vincent Gray CB

The WFT another one of the playoff teams in the NFC East were able to knock off the Philadelphia Eagles on wild card weekend before falling to the NFC South champs Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round. The WFT addressed the offensive line in the first round of the draft and took the best Lineman in the class in Charles Cross who will be a day 1 starter. They traded for Jesse Bates who will also be a day 1 starter in the secondary. Vincent Gray will slot into the 3rd spot on the depth chart in the cornerback room and will play a huge role in this teams success.

Dallas Cowboys 7-9

  1. Myles Murphy
  2. Baylor Cupp
  3. Dontae Lucas

The Dallas Cowboys fell into the basement in 2022 but are looking to change those results in 2023. They didn’t make any noise in free agency due to finances but did make a trade in which they traded Pro Bowl RG Zac Martin. In a subsequent move they drafted Dontae Lucas who figures to be the successor to Martin at the guard position. Myles Murphy will provide an immediate impact on the defensive line and a potential replacement for Demarcus Lawrence who may be a cap casualty in 2024. The Cowboys bring in there best Tight end option since Jason Witten with the drafting of Baylor Cupp who will slot in as the #2 on the depth chart in week 1 but eventually taking over as the starter.
