As we enter into week 4 of the PML Pre season, the excitement of a fresh slate of games is in the air. It was an eventful off season in which we saw numerous trades of super star players and draft picks. Some teams strapped against the cap were more hesitant to make moves as they keep an eye towards to future re signings, while others pushed there chips to the middle of the table and have went all in. Let’s take a look at the 3 top off season moves of each team in the AFC West.
Los Angeles Chargers 16-0 AFC West Champs
David Montgomery FB
Steven Jones RT
Mohamoud Diabate LOLB
The Los Angeles Chargers enter into the 2023 season in search of a new owner. The loss of one of the best GMs in Hypemike will be significant. Following an undefeated regular season the Chargers suffered an upset loss to the Tennessee Titans in the divisional round. The off season has been uneventful with the most significant signing being HB converted to FB David Montgomery. In the 2023 draft they address the need on the offensive line in RT Steven Jones who could be a week 1 starter and at LOLB Mohamoud Diabate who will be more of a depth option in the linebackers room.
Denver Broncos 7-9
Andrew Booth CB
Noah Sewell MLB
Drake Thomas ROLB
The Denver Broncos were a surprising team in the 2022 season, losing an ultimate play in to the post season game in Week 17 but suffering a loss to the Miami Dolphins. They were not a big player in free agency but did address needs in the draft. Andrew Booth should slide into a starting cornerback role by mid season and linebackers Noah Sewell and Drake Thomas should be rotational options in the linebacker core and eventual starters in 2024.
Las Vegas Raiders 5-11
Stefon Diggs WR
Levi Wallace CB
The Las Vegas Raiders made one of the most controversial trades in PML history shipping Henry Ruggs to the Super Bowl Champion Buffalo Bills in exchange for Stefon Diggs and Levi Wallace. Diggs will slide into the same role as Ruggs and Wallace will lineup as the #2 CB opposite of Trayvon Mullen. Alejandro Villanueva will slide into the starting RT slot and provide protection for Derek Carr as the Raiders look to make some noise in the AFC West.
The Kansas City Chiefs were quiet this off season as they have several big contracts on the books. They had an excellent draft as they addressed needs on the roster. None bigger than the pick of Bryan Breese the DT out of Clemson who will be a day 1 starter next to Chris Jones on the defensive line inside. Keyshon Boutte will be a developmental project and should be the answer to the aging Sammy Watkins going forward. Jay Symunds the top FB in the draft will help the Chiefs as the lead blocker in front of RB Chubba Hubbard.
