Week 17: Win Or Go Home

Week 17 is here, and the NFC playoff picture is a complete mess. The seeding and participates will be decided in a plethora of games this week. The Bears, Cowboys, Niners, and Eagles are all in win and you’re in scenarios. The Lions, Giants, and Seahawks will need some help to get in. If the Bears and Lions both lose, the NFC East will make history by sending all 4 teams to the playoffs. The Eagles aren’t looking at any other team but themselves as their win and you’re in scenario has been in effect since week 11. They are on a 6 game winning streak coming into this game, however their opponent, the New York Giants are on a winning streak of their own. One team has to lose and the Eagles feel that if they play turnover free football they will come out of this game with a win.

The Eagles lost the first meeting between these two teams in a blowout and coach Skellington said before the game, We will not get beat like that again.” The Eagles came into this game looking to play smart turnover free football. This approach worked well for the most part. The Eagles got an interception on their first drive, but only managed to turn that into 3 points. As the game moved along, the Giants would score on a one play touchdown to go up 7-3. This would be the last time in the game that the Eagles would be down. The Eagles would score 4 more field goals throughout the game until the fourth quarter. After a one play touchdown run by the Giants, they would miss the 2 point conversation to be down 15-13. On the very next possession, Carson Wentz threw the one bad interception the Eagles feared. This put the Giants in field goal range automatically. The Giants would drive down to the 1 yard line but get stopped on 4th down. Being down 15-13, the Giants decided to not take their points and go for it, only to be stopped by corner Maddox. The Eagles would take over at the 1 yard line, then immediately throw a 99 yard slant to Reagor to essentially win the game. The Giants would go on to score another garbage time touchdown, making the final score 29-19.

The Eagles were the underdogs in the game, and only one person bet on them to win. They played a consertavie game and it worked for them in the end. For the most part Carson Wentz played mistake free football. When the game was on the line, he delivered a clutch throw. The Eagles paid him big to deliver in these situations and today he made his check. Miles Sanders was given plenty of touches but only managed 95 yards and a touchdown on 27 attempts. Reagor was the best wide receiver on the day scoring the 99 yard touchdown, essentially winning the game.

The Eagles defense played lights out from start to finish besides two one play touchdowns. When the chips were on the line, they were able to stop the best running back in PML on the 1 yard line. Fletcher Cox only had one sack in the game, but terrorized Daniel Jones all game. The superstar of the game for the Eagles was cornerback Avonte Maddox, who intercepted Jones three times. Maddox, will end the year with 11 interceptions, 16 deflections, and 5 touchdowns. He is hoping that is enough to make him a superstar.

With this win, at 11-5 the Philadelphia Eagles are officially in the playoffs. After a disappointing season in 2020, the Eagles can hold their head up high. They will face off against the Seattle Seahawks, who just made the playoffs with a Niners loss.
