After suffering a defeat in week 1 to the Patriots, the Colts get back to 500 with a big win over the Chiefs. The Colts defense stepped up and smothered the Chiefs high flying offense. They gave up just 100 yards passing to Patrick Mahomes and just 269 yards total while forcing 9 turnovers. There were standout performances all over the defense led by Malik Hooker and his 3 interceptions. Rookie defensive tackle Darius Stills had a sack, forced fumble, and an interception on a screen play he sniffed out. He almost took it for a touchdown but ran out of gas inside the 10 yard line. On offense Jameis Winston looked like the man they wanted when they gave him 75 million dollars. He finished with over 300 yards passing with 4 touchdowns. He hit all his main targets today as, Ty Hilton, Parris Campbell and Trey burton led the way. Jonathan Taylor had a quieter game on the ground today as his usage rate had been questioned around the league. He still sprinkled in over 100 all purpose yards on 17 total touches. Overall this is a game the Colts needed to boost their confidence after a bad defeat to start the season. The Colts didn’t get their first win till week 4 last year, so this surely feels good for the team and fans alike. All of the new players added this offseason kicked in for the win, as mentioned before Rookie Stills had a forced fumble, sack and an interception while Chandler Jones had a sack, Hooker had 3 interceptions and Jaquiski Tartt added one as well. If all the pieces can gel like this on defense the Colts will have justified their offseason spending. The Colts have their first home game coming up and emotions are running high. Look for them to get the run game going early and let their fans and the noise take over.
