Eagles Rookie Review

The Eagles rookie class had its ups and downs this season. None of the players led directly to the under-performing record for the Eagles but a few of the players had great years. In this article we will take a look at all of the rookies for the Eagles and give them grades.

Jalen Reagor 6398915.714765

First up is wide receiver Jalen Reagor, who started off as the slot wide receiver but was promoted to the starting spot when Goodwin was traded to the Houston Texans. Reagor played very well in his rookie season, as he ended the season a few yards short of verteran Desean Jackson. Reagor brought in a lot of catches, most times when it mattered in the game, however, his drops plagued him all season. Reagor, who now is the number one receiver for the Eagles will have to make sure he prioritizes catching this offseason.  His official grade is an A-.

Jalen Hurts000000

Jalen Hurts was drafted primarily to be the immediate backup to Carson Wentz. Wentz had a mix bag of play this season and even though rumors swirled about Hurts playing this season, they were just that. Hurts is an athletic quarterback, who will need to work on his arm strength if he wants to take over as the Eagles starting quarterback. Hurts will get alot of attention this offseason with a lot of teams  in the need of a quarterback. If Hurts is still on the team when the preseason hits, expect him to take the bulk of the snaps. While it is still unclear why he was taken so high in last season’s draft, his on field production hasn’t been seen yet, which will result in an incomplete grade for him.

Davion Taylor 4300010

Taylor started at right outside linebacker this season and he had an average season. Taylor didn’t make a stand out plays, however, he was a reliable player at a position of weakness. With most of the linebackers gone from last season, Taylor is one of their best rated  and fastest linebackers on the Eagle roster. Taylor will use his speed in order to hopefully make more of an impact this upcoming season. His official grade is a C.

K’Von Wallace 3500090

Wallace started at both safety positions as well as switching to middle linebacker on passing downs this season.  The Eagles were able to use his versatility to generate one of the best pass defenses in the league. Wallace will officially start at the free safety position this upcoming season and most likely retain that middle linebacker spot in nickel situations. Wallace was excellent when he was on the field and while he didn’t have any interceptions, his usefulness came in the form of tackles and pass breakups. With safety being a position of need for this team, Wallace will need to step up big time in the upcoming season. His official grade was a B.

The other rookies on this team had no playing time so they will not be given a grade at this time. Wide receivers Watkins and Hightower are set to see an increased role this upcoming season as the Eagles need to find a replacement for the ageless wonder Desean Jackson. The Eagles had a very successful rookie class and with 7 picks in this upcoming draft look to hopefully strike gold. With their cap situation, everyone in the league knows they must hit on this draft, or it will be a very long season.
