Bye Eagles Bye

The Eagles currently have – 38.7 million in cap space. This is a result from years of bad contract management. They currently have 17 players that are set to go to free agency. We will take a look at all of the free agents and the impact that they had for the Eagles last season.

Running Backs:

Boston Scott 8313.8170

Boston Scott was listed as the third back on the depth chart and based on his 8 carries all season, the Eagles will not miss him. The Eagles chose to give the rookie Huntley more playing time with the knowledge that they would not re-sign Scott at the end of the season.

Tight End:

Joshua Perkins 00000

Joshua Perkins was the fourth string tight end for the Eagles who was not used at all the past season. Perkins is a little older but has the size, speed, and run blocking ability to be a good backup tight end for any team in PML. The Eagles would have liked to keep him for his run blocking ability.

Right End:

Vinny Curry 00000

Vinny Curry was the second string right end for the Eagles who received no playing time. Curry is an older veteran who regressed this offseason and is a player who the Eagles wouldn’t have resigned if they had cap space.

Defensive Tackle:

Hassan Ridgeway 00000

Hassan Ridgeway was the Eagles third string defensive tackle who received no playing time this season. Ridgeway, is a young tackle who has the measurables and baseline stats to progress into a good player. The Eagles would have liked to retain him.

Left Outside Linebacker:

Brooks Reed 171010

Brooks Reed was the starting left outside linebacker for the Eagles and will be missed. The Eagles linebacking core is in rough shape and Reed’s leadership was an important aspect to the defense.

Duke Riley 60010

Duke Riley was the backup left outside linebacker who played sparingly but made a difference when he was in the game. Riley is a speedy linebacker who the Eagles would have loved to resign.

Middle Linebacker:

Alex Singleton 40000

Alex Singleton was the Eagles third string middle linebacker who received very little playing time. Singleton is one the worst rated linebackers on a team that has bad linebackers. He would not have been resigned.

Right Outside Linebacker:

Nathan Gerry30000

Nathan Gerry was the backup right outside linebacker but was inline for the starting spot this season if he could have been resigned. Gerry is a young speedy linebacker that will fill a hole for the right team.

Cornerback:

Vernon Hargreaves 30000

Vernon Hargreaves was brought in with KeKe Coutee during the bye week last season. Hargreaves is a good young corner who played as the Eagles fourth corner but would have been elevated into the slot corner spot if he could have been re-signed.

PlayerTklSacksFFINTTD
Nickell Robey-Coleman 330030

Nickell Robey- Coleman is one of the top corners in the league and played in a starting spot for the Eagles. Coleman wasn’t the fastest corner but he made up for it with his coverage and that is something the Eagles will miss in the upcoming season. He is truly one of the players the Eagles would have loved to have back.

PlayerTklSacksFFINTTD
Crevon Leblanc 120030

Crevon Leblanc was the rotating corner when different players were tired. In his limited time on the field he was a difference maker. Leblanc was a player that the Eagles valued as he was very versatile, playing whatever position they needed him to.

Free Safety:

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix240050

HaHa Clinton-Dix was the starting free safety for the Eagles and was an impact player that will be missed. He consistently made plays for the defense and was on the top of the leaderboard for interceptions on the team. The Eagles would have had to cut a lot of players just to be able to resign one player. They thought better of this idea but if they would have pulled the trigger, Clinton-Dix would have been the player to resign.

Strong Safety:

PlayerTklSacksFFINTTD
Will Parks360010

Will Parks was the starting strong safety  for the Eagles and although his stats don’t show the whole story, he played multiple positions for the Eagles. On passing downs, he played linebacker and was a main reason why the Eagles pass defense was top 10 in the league. Parks would have been welcomed back with arms wide open.

PlayerTklSacksFFINTTD
Jalen Mills00000

Jalen Mills was the backup strong safety last season but if he could have been re-signed he would have easily started for the Eagles. Mills is a fast cover safety and will make a team signing him very happy. He has all the tools a safety needs, and will surely be missed.

PlayerTklSacksFFINTTD
Rudy Ford00000

Rudy Ford was on the roster in the case of an injury. Ford played zero snaps on the season and the Eagles will let him walk without a thought in the world.

Overall, Clinton-Dix, Coleman, and Parks are the three players that the Eagles will miss next season. The safety and linebacker positions are huge positions of need. The Eagles will look at the draft in the upcoming days and come up with a plan to ensure that these positions are addressed this off season.
