After last weeks thrilling come from behind victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Colts faced off against the Houston Texans for the second time in five weeks. The first game between these two teams was a blowout win for the Colts, however, the Texans came into this game looking out for blood. The game was as close as could be, however, the Colts pulled out the close win 34-29 to sweep the Texans for the season.
The offense played a major part in this game and is one of the reasons the Colts won. Quarterback Brissett played much better this game, compared to last week’s game throwing for 319 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception. Running back Hines ran all over the Texans defense, ending up with 111 yards and 2 touchdowns on 21 carries. Brissetts touchdowns would go to three different receivers, Campbell, Ebron, and Hilton. Campbell and Ebron had 5 receptions in the game, with Hilton not to far behind with 4 receptions.
The Colts defense has been very good this year, however, in this game they gave up a lot of points and a lot of yards. The 448 yards given up has been the most they’ve given up this season. With their new defensive line, the Colts should be getting at least 3 sacks per game. In this game they finished with an astounding 0 sacks. The fact that they didn’t lose this game was from the sheer fact that the offense kept them in the game. As badly as the defense played, there were some bright spots in the game. Corner-backs Robinson and Desir were each able to pick off Texans QB Watson and they were on pivottable plays in the game. An overall look at this game wouldn’t show how important those interceptions were but if you take them away, the Colts lose this game easily.
This close win sets up the Colts nicely as they are now 3-0 in the division with 3 division games remaining. If it comes down to it and the Texans make a strong run in the second half of the season, the Colts will hold the tiebreaker over them. Next week’s game is another divisional matchup against the Tennessee Titans and we are sure that the Titans like the Texans will be coming out for blood to make up for the blowout loss that they had earlier in the season. The Colts now 4-1 are in a much better place than they were at this time last season.
