Saints Player Spotlight- Kyle Allen

QB- Kyle Allen

For those of you who aren’t aware, Kyle Allen is the key and the future for the New Orleans Saints after Drew Brees retires. Allen who went undrafted out of Texas A&M. From being undrafted he went on to sign with the New York Jets practice squad. Once that didn’t work out he then got signed by the Carolina Panthers. After struggling in camp the Panthers decided to let Allen walk. The Saints in need of options behind the aging Drew Brees reaches out to Allen to get a deal done. Through practices the coaching staff grew to favor Kyle more and more which led to them allowing Teddy Bridgewater to walk. They’re hoping that Allen could take over after Drew Brees retires.

In the 2020 preseason Kyle Allen has saw the field once in two games. During that one game the young quarterback went 12/19 for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns. Easy to say that he’s in his grove in the preseason.

When Allen first got to New Orleans he was a modest 52 overall. Through a full year of content points we got him up to a 61. Almost 10 overall points higher! It’ll be interesting to see how far he can grow in the next couple seasons.
